Currency trading has its own units. Prices move in pips, positions are sized in lots, and profit lands in the currency on the right-hand side of the pair rather than the one your account is denominated in. Getting from a stop-loss distance to a lot size means moving between all three.
These calculators handle that conversion explicitly. Each one shows the pip size it is using — 0.0001 for most pairs, 0.01 for anything quoted in Japanese yen — and asks for a conversion rate rather than fetching one, so the number you get back is based on the rate your broker is actually applying rather than a mid-market rate from somewhere else.
Costs are excluded unless a calculator says otherwise, because they are broker-specific and a guess at them would make the output less useful rather than more. The exception is the swap calculator, where the overnight financing cost is the entire point.
